Magimix 5200XL Food Processor Review
Where to even start? This food processor has more functionality than an Instagrammer has lipsticks, it does everything.
Before purchasing this top end version, the Magimix 5200XL food processor, I researched all the food processors out there. I looked at Cuisinart, I looked at Kitchenaid and I didn’t touch the bottom of the market because when it comes to food processors it seems you really do get what you pay for. The price on this is not for the faint of heart – it is f***ing expensive I’m not going to sugar coat that fact. I was honestly going to go for the Magimix 3200 at first because OMG the price on this thing but when we went to the store (yes, I insisted on seeing this thing in person before dropping $$$$ on it) and had a look at it I just loved all the extra things you could do with this version. Particularly, I liked that it came with the citrus juicer attachment and I didn’t need to buy that separately.
The motivation to finally get a food processor mainly came from the increased volume of ‘from scratch’ cooking I was doing during lockdown such as bread from scratch. I wanted to do pesto (see the copious amounts of basil I had to deal with thanks to the Aerogarden) and houmous but my blender was a real cheap one and wasn’t doing the job; the Magic Bullet blender didn’t work well either.
Finally though, I made my decision and bought this amazing Magimix 5200XL. Over the last few months, I’ve used it many, many times to make quick and efficient work of a huge range of cooking tasks, some of what it has done brilliantly for me is:
-knead bread dough in about a min for lovely fresh bread
-excellent pesto
-smooth and creamy houmous
-freshly squeezed orange juice
and tons more.
My absolute favorite bits about this machine are: it is really quiet for a food processor!! I have a Magic Bullet mini blender and I have to wear earplugs when using it but the Magimix? Nope, it’s quieter than my dishwasher.
Next best is cleaning it. Normally with food processors and blenders it’s a pain in the a** to clean them properly but I am happy to report that cleaning the Magimix is a very simple affair. It all comes apart and rinses off very easily. Honestly, it is a dream to clean, and I could not recommend it more highly. If the price is putting you off (I totally get it) I would say it is worth saving up for, you won’t regret it!
